Egyptian cuisine is one of the distinctive international kitchens, as it offers its native citizens and tourists who come to it from all over the world many dishes and dishes that distinguish it, such as mombar, pigeons, kofta, koshari, chicken, taamia, falafel and many others.

Egyptian falafel :


Popular dishes are eaten by people of different levels and their financial conditions. Perhaps falafel is one of these foods that are widespread and well-known everywhere, especially in the Levant, Iraq, Egypt, etc., and it is noted at the present time that some countries, such as the United States of America, sell falafel in vehicles in their big cities, as New York for its distinctive taste. It is the most prominent popular food in Egypt, and people eat it every day in the lanes, markets and homes there, in addition to the fava beans dish, so it is considered a popular breakfast meal in Egypt, as it is characterized by its cheap prices.

Now let's move on to prepare the egyptian falafel step by step.

Ingredients :

  1. Two cups of peeled beans  soaked in water for a whole night.
  2. quarter cup of parsley, chopped roughly.
  3. quarter cup of coriander, chopped roughly.
  4. 6 cloves of minced garlic.
  5. 1 minced onion.
  6. quarter cup of minced leek.
  7. half a teaspoon of salt.
  8. A quarter teaspoon of cumin powder.
  9. A quarter teaspoon of  black pepper powder.
  10. A half teaspoon of Sodium bicarbonate.
  11. A half cup of water.
  12. Amount of vegetable oil for frying, as needed.

Preparation method :


  1. We wash the beans, and soak them in the water throughout the night or a day before making falafel.
  2. We take the beans from water and set it in the electric mixer with onion, garlic, coriander, leeks and parsley.
  3. we mix the ingredients well until you get a firm paste.
  4. we dissolve the sodium bicarbonate with water and add it to the electric mixer with salt, pepper and cumin.
  5. we mix the ingredients together again until get the perfect dough.
  6. We heat an abundant amount of oil in a large, deep frying pan over medium heat.
  7. We make equal spherical shapes of dough and drop them in the pan.
  8. We turned the falafel balls into the oil until they get browned ( this may take around 5 minutes ).
  9. Then, we take it out and put it on a piece of kitchen paper to get rid of the excess oil.
  10.  Finally, we put the obtained falafel in dishes and serve them with vegetable salad and a pieces of delicious arabic bread.
